Francesca Flood is a doctoral candidate at Argosy University in the process of writing her dissertation, “Finding Meaning for the Post-Incarcerated Wounded Healer.” Having been formerly incarcerated Ms. Flood understands the need to find meaning in life, and how others who have travelled the same journey would greatly benefit from exploring the subject.
Ms. Flood is conducting research that will shed light on the importance of organizations such as UPAN, and how they contribute to restoring meaning in life and reducing recidivism. Her research will measure two things:
- Job satisfaction of people participating in Prison Outreach activities (staff and volunteers—whether formerly incarcerated or not)
- Meaning in life among this group
In order to accomplish this task, Ms. Flood is administering a survey amongst various prison outreach organizations throughout the United States, and her goal is to receive over 100 responses from staff members and volunteers. Participant responses are extremely important. All responses are completely anonymous—unidentifiable to Ms. Flood as well as UPAN.
