First Unitarian Church

Welcome to First Unitarian Church and thank you for your interest. Unitarian Universalism is a non-dogmatic faith with a history that reaches back to the 16th century and the Protestant Reformation. Most people are more familiar with the early roots of Unitarianism and Universalism in early 19th century New England. The Transcendentalist movement, responsible for new expressions in spirituality and literature, was configured by Unitarians such as Emerson, Thoreau, Hawthorne, Longfellow, and Alcott. Our headquarters today is still located in Boston.

There are over 1000 Unitarian Universalist congregations in North America, each one autonomous but connected through an affirmation of the Seven Principles (see link below).
