The Utah Prisoner Advocate Network’s organizers consist of individuals who possess a wide range of various skill sets and have first-hand experience with Utah’s criminal justice system. Most of whom have (or have had) a loved one incarcerated at any one of Utah’s numerous jails or prisons. They share a common frustration in the perceived lack of supportive resources for their families as well as the need for criminal justice reform. Utah’s prison families are often at the forefront of grassroots reform movements—having to suddenly adjust and navigate a new world of criminal justice rules and regulations when their loved one has been sentenced to jail time. Banded together these individuals have formed an organization that helps to address these needs, and the community has responded with their ongoing support.
