Update #1 – 3/19/2020: UPAN has received a complaint about one of the articles titled “Section 6” by Sue Steel. We are investigating the complaint and will re-issue a corrected version of the March 2020 UPAN Newsletter shortly. If you have already downloaded a copy of the UPAN Newsletter March 2020 published on 3/15/2020, please hold off on sending this edition to inmates as the Utah Department of Corrections will not permit its distribution within UDC facilities due to a violation in UDC policy. Check back soon for the corrected edition, thank you for your patience.
Update #2 – 3/19/2020: UPAN Newsletter Editors have decided to redact the article titled, “Section 6” by author Sue Steel of Prisoner Advocate Group (PAG). The UPAN Newsletter would have otherwise been deemed in violation of UDC Inmate Mail Policy and would have been prohibited in it’s correctional facilities. The UPAN Newsletter Editors have instead elected to replace the article in question with a summary of the most recent UPAN Monthly Meeting, which would’ve appeared in the April issue. We’ve also added some new information about meeting cancellations that have been put into place in light of recent developments in response to COVID-19. Please find the revised March 2020 UPAN Newsletter for download below, cleared as OKAY TO SEND TO INMATES. Thank you for your understanding.
